Direction

As a director, I lead spaces that foster community through active discussion. All of my projects are approached with mindset of incorporating how our unique identities  intersect with the stories we are telling. Through my direction, I navigate each individual's creative language to facilitate the creation of a new creative language tailored to the ensemble.

-CALIFORNIA REPERTORY COMPANY-
-THEATRE THRESHOLD-

American Distortion Created by Ski Gozo (California Repertory Company 2022)

A devised anthology created to help young theatrical ensembles voice their concerns or feelings surrounding the stigma of being American. As a director, this piece is centered around creating a space for emerging artists to create socio-political theater about their own identity in a healthy way, providing a call-in practice in the rehearsal room in order to devise theater around difficult discussions that will follow the audience beyond the stage.

American Distortion Created by Ski Gozo (Theatre Threshold 2021)

Preluding the in-person production at the California Repertory Company, this piece was created during the pandemic. As a director, I led both individual and group discussions surrounding the idea of “American Distortion,” with my poetry writing as a backbone to help spark ideas/discussions on what we wanted to create as artists. Because this was over zoom, it had an extensive focus on accessibility with the help of artist/activist Vanessa Cruz.
